Does insurance cover costs for winter tires?

Will my insurance pay for winter tires? I’m moving to a snowy state and I want to drive as safely in the snow as I can. Does insurance help out with that?

Although it would be great, insurance does not cover the cost of winter tires.
For what it’s worth, states don’t require that you buy winter tires, either—no matter how snowy it is where you live. So instead of springing for special tires that can only be used during certain seasons, it may be more practical to get high-quality all-season tires and brush up on your
safe driving skills
.
But let’s say you did buy winter tires. Then, you got into an
accident
and your winter tires were damaged in the process. Your insurance will cover the cost of replacing your tires. Hooray for small victories!
