Does homeowners insurance cover ceiling damage?

Could I submit a claim with my insurance company for damage I caused? I damaged my ceiling while moving things around my attic.

“To find out what’s covered in your homeowners policy, you’ll want to review your:
  • Policy declaration page
  • Insuring agreement
  • Policy conditions
These will detail what’s covered as well as what may be excluded on the policy.
Since the damage to the ceiling was done by you, it’s not likely that the damage will be covered. You could reach out to your
homeowners insurance
company for more clarification.
However, keep in mind that whenever you submit a claim to your insurance, you are subject to your deductible. Depending on the amount of damage done, your deductible may end up being more than the repairs. You also risk your insurance either increasing or canceling your rate by submitting a claim.
You can get an estimate from a professional for the cost of repairs. If the price is less than your deductible, you shouldn’t file a claim.”
