Does home insurance cover rat damage?

My neighborhood is experiencing an issue with rats. When I was mowing our lawn today, I noticed rats were eating away at our porch. Will my home insurance cover rat damage?

Rats are the worst! I’m sorry to hear your neighborhood is dealing with them. While your home insurance covers accidental or sudden damage, it won’t cover rat damage.
