Does home insurance cover frozen pipes?

A huge winter storm just hit, and all of our pipes froze. We did everything we could to prevent the freezing and attempted to thaw them safely, but two still burst. Does home insurance cover our frozen pipes?

Winter weather can definitely put a strain on your home. Thankfully, your home insurance should cover frozen pipes.
Since you tried to prevent the freezing of your pipes, most
homeowners policies
will cover the repairs and any damage caused by the frozen and burst pipes.
Freezing is one of the
16 covered perils
in homeowners policies. That said, had you not tried to prevent the freezing, your home insurance would likely deny you coverage.
This is because homeowners policies will not cover damage resulting from aging, neglect, or lack of maintenance.
You’ll want to contact your insurance company to confirm your coverage and file a claim. As most home insurance policies have deductibles, the cost of repairs will need to be more than your deductible for your insurance to provide coverage.
After you repair your pipes, consider reviewing your home and car insurance options with
