Does home insurance cover foundation leaks?

I noticed there seems to be some leakage and water stains along the walls in my basement. I’m not sure what exactly is causing this, but we have a home insurance policy. Will our home insurance cover any foundation leaks?

Oh no—I’m sorry to hear your foundation is leaking!
Your home insurance will cover foundation leaks and damage as long as a named peril in your policy causes the damage.
That said, you’ll need to determine the exact cause of your foundation leaks and ensure it’s one of the
named perils
in your specific policy.
Many of the most prevalent causes of foundation damage are incidents that your provider will not accept responsibility for, like settling, age, and wear and tear. Be sure to check with your insurer to see whether or not you would have coverage once you determine the cause.
While your
homeowners insurance
may not have you covered in this case, it’s important to look over your policy and check if there are any other gaps in your insurance with
