Does Dodge’s powertrain warranty cover power steering?

I think my Dodge Challenger’s power steering is malfunctioning, but I know it’s still under factory warranty. Will this be covered?

We’re sorry to hear you’re having car troubles! Unfortunately, Dodge’s powertrain limited warranty may not cover your power steering.
Every new Dodge comes with a Powertrain Limited Warranty that covers the costs for the main components that make your car run, including parts and labor. This warranty lasts for five years or 60,000 miles, whichever comes first.
Covered powertrain parts include:
  • Engine components: the cylinder block of all gasoline-powered engines, as well as internal parts like the intake, exhaust manifolds, the water and oil pump, and the supercharger
  • Transmission components: such as the torque converter, the range switch, and the pressure and speed sensors
  • Drive Systems and Internal Parts: anything that affects your vehicle’s front-, all-, or rear-wheel drive capabilities
Among items not covered by powertrain warranties are suspension and steering parts, brake components, wheels/tires, radiators and hoses, alternators, air-conditioning compressor, and accessory drive belts.
There is some good news, though—your Dodge’s 3-year, 36,000-mile Basic Limited Warranty may cover power steering.
The best way to figure out if you’re covered is to contact your Dodge dealership directly. They’ll evaluate your vehicle, determine the exact issue, and let you know if it’s covered under warranty.
