Does comprehensive car insurance cover flood damage?

Can my comprehensive insurance cover the cost of replacing the interior of a car destroyed by a flood? I was driving home a week ago when I unfortunately got caught in a flood. I'm okay—though shaken—but my car's interior is completely soaked, and it needs to be replaced. I have comprehensive car insurance, but I don't know if that covers flood damage.

“I’m so sorry to hear that—driving in a flood must have been really, really scary. I’m happy to report, though, that your
comprehensive coverage
does cover water and flood damage.
Unless otherwise stated in your policy, water and flood damage are covered under comprehensive insurance. Comprehensive insurance is meant to insure you against events that are out of your control, and your circumstances certainly fall into this category.
You will likely have to pay your
comprehensive deductible
before your insurance kicks in, but it should cover any costs beyond that. So go ahead and file your claim as soon as you can.
If floods are common in your area and you feel that your deductible is a little too high, you might want to look into switching plans or providers to put yourself in a better place should disaster strike again. The
Jerry
app can help. Jerry will gather customized quotes from several different providers instantly, so you can choose the best deal on the coverage that you need. Jerry will even help you switch plans.”
