Does car insurance cover pothole damage?

I hit a nasty pothole on the highway and damaged my alignment. Can I make a claim on my car insurance for the repairs?

“Whether or not
car insurance covers potholes
is a common question!
Depending on the coverage you have, you may be able to submit a claim. Hitting a pothole may be considered a single-vehicle accident by your
car insurance company
and therefore covered under collision coverage.
Keep in mind you’ll need to meet your
collision coverage
deductible before coverage kicks in. If the cost of repairs is lower than the deductible, you won’t be able to submit a claim.
If you don’t have collision coverage and live in an area where potholes are common, you may want to consider adding it to your insurance policy. Adding it now won’t cover your current damage, but it will help in the future.
You can request a quote from your current insurance or shop around. If you’d like to take the hard work out of insurance shopping, use the
