Does antifreeze affect AC?

My car has been feeling hotter than usual, and I discovered an antifreeze leak when I looked under the hood. Does antifreeze affect AC?

Uh oh! So, does antifreeze affect AC? Yes,
antifreeze
can affect how well your car’s air conditioning works— maybe not how you think.
While your antifreeze helps keep your engine from overheating, air conditioning uses a different refrigerant. Essentially, they belong to two separate systems. Still, a cooler engine means less heat will transfer to your car’s cabin since the antifreeze is absorbing so much of that excess heat.
If your engine’s antifreeze levels are too low, you may notice a change in your air conditioning’s performance.
At any rate, your car must have enough antifreeze to protect your engine from overheating and ending up with expensive or irreparable damage, so it’s a good idea to address that leak as soon as possible.
