Does Allstate car insurance extend to rental cars?

I have my own policy through Allstate. I'm going on a road trip and want to rent a car. Will my policy provide coverage for a rental car?

“Your
Allstate car insurance
should extend coverage to a rental car. If your policy extends to rental cars, it would only be for the coverage you have.
For example, if you only have
liability car insurance
, that would be the only coverage on a rental car. If so, you’d want to consider getting the rental car company’s collision damage waiver or increasing coverage on your own policy.
To confirm you’ll have coverage, reach out to your car insurance agent. They can go over your coverage and if you need any additional coverage on a rental car. If you plan on paying with a credit card, you can also see if it will cover rental cars. Many cover collision damage allowing you to bypass the rental car company’s insurance.
In the future, you may want to switch to a car insurance policy that coverage rental cars and it doesn’t get easier than using Jerry. Hop on the
