Does Afterpay hurt your credit?

I use Afterpay all the time when I’m online shopping. It’s so easy and convenient. However, I’ve recently started worrying that it might impact my credit score. Will using Afterpay hurt my credit?

Afterpay is definitely a convenient service! Fortunately, it’s also very unlikely that using Afterpay will hurt your
credit score
. This is true for a couple of reasons:
  • Afterpay doesn’t perform a hard credit check, which would lower your score
  • They don’t report missed payments to credit bureaus
However, you might still cause some damage to your credit if you use your credit card for Afterpay payments since you could acquire a lot of debt very quickly. You could also be hit with some late payment fees if you don’t pay your Afterpay bills on time, which could further impact your finances.
