Does a lift kit void a Toyota Tacoma warranty?

I just bought a sweet new Toyota Tacoma, and I want to put a lift on it. My dad says this will void my whole warranty, though. Is that true?

Toyota Tacomas are great trucks, so congrats on your new ride! Also, congrats on the chance to educate your dad on a little something called the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act—it ensures that vehicle owners can modify their rides without automatically voiding their warranties. That said, it will likely void parts of your Tacoma warranty, as a lift kit, even when properly installed, will place added strain on parts of the suspension and drivetrain that could cause them to fail more quickly than they might under normal wear and tear.
If you decide you want to add a few inches to your Tacoma, keep in mind that this could affect your
Toyota Tacoma car insurance cost
as well. That’s why you should take a minute to make sure you’re not getting overcharged for off-road capability.
