Does A GMC Envoy Have A Catalytic Converter?

I’ve heard that a catalytic converter can impair your engine performance. I’m not really sure what one is, but it sounds bad. Can you tell me, does my GMC Envoy have a catalytic converter? If so, how can I get it removed?

Yes, your
GMC Envoy
does have a catalytic converter—all modern cars do. It doesn’t really impair your engine’s performance. What it does is monitor and manage your car’s dangerous exhaust fumes.
It’s true that the converter can sometimes cause reduced horsepower, but that’s just engine behavior regulation to minimize harmful emissions. You’ll have far more performance problems if you remove the catalytic converter—not to mention that doing so is illegal.
Your car’s catalytic converter helps to protect the environment, but who protects your car? Having the right car insurance coverage can make all the difference.
