Getting a flat tire is always a stressful experience. Good for you for preparing yourself with knowledge! The BMW X1 is a great car to drive—if you break down, at least it’ll be in style! But does the BMW X1 have a spare tire?
No, the BMW X1 does not have a spare tire. Instead, it has run-flat tires, which enable you to
for up to 50 miles (for exact mileage, check the owner’s manual) so you can get a patch or a new tire. While run-flat tires make getting a flat tire more convenient than ever, there are some drawbacks to them:
Your car won’t have a spare tire or repair kit.
They need to be replaced sooner than average tires (6,000 miles sooner!).
Blowouts are still possible, and you’ll need a tow if the sidewall is damaged.
The stiff sides make it hard to monitor air pressure without a tool.
The ride is harsher.
They have a higher replacement cost.
They’re not as easily available as standard tires.
