Do you need to bleed the brakes when changing pads?

My brake pads are worn down and I’m planning on changing them myself to save money but I still have a few questions. Do you need to bleed the brakes when changing pads?

Sometimes! You need to bleed the brakes when changing the pads if the brake lines were opened. Luckily, bleeding your brakes can be done by following these steps:
  • Locate the bleed valve on the brakes
  • Open the valve
  • Remove the cap on the master cylinder
  • Press your brake pedal to bleed the brakes
