Do you have to stop at a yield sign?

I’m taking my driving test next week and I’m feeling pretty confident about everything. My only issue is with yield signs. Do I have to actually stop at a yield sign? What am I supposed to do?

Way to go on getting this far! Since you already passed your written test, you’re only one step away from your
provisional license
! To answer your question, you do not have to stop at a yield sign unless it’s to avoid traffic or a collision.
More specifically, the law states that you should:
  • Slow down to a reasonable speed when you approach the yield sign
  • Scan both directions for other motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians
  • If you don’t see any traffic, you can continue at a reasonable speed for the conditions
  • If you see traffic, come to a stop at the white line, wait until traffic passes, and then continue at a reasonable speed
After you pass your driving test, you’re sure to be elated! But before you shop around for a shiny, new car, make sure you shop around for car insurance with the
