Do you have to renew home insurance every year?

I’ve been a homeowner for almost a year now. With that anniversary coming up, I’m starting to wonder. Do you have to renew insurance every year? Or does it renew automatically?

Congratulations on (almost) one year of homeownership! In most cases, your home insurance will renew automatically, but check your policy’s terms to make sure.
Typically, you’ll also receive a notice about a month or so before your
home insurance
policy is set to
renew
.
The notice should have instructions about what, if any, actions you need to take to renew your policy, as well as any changes to your policy or the premium cost that would take effect in the new period.
If you’re approaching your home insurance renewal period, it would be a good time to gather quotes from other providers to make sure you’re still getting the level of coverage you want for the best price.
