Do you get cheaper car insurance through a broker?

I want to switch car insurance companies. I heard that car insurance brokers can get you lower rates for insurance. Is this true?

“Working with a car insurance broker can potentially save you money on car insurance. This is because a broker works for you instead of a single car insurance company.
Car insurance brokers look at multiple car insurance companies to find you the best rate based on the coverage you require. Since they aren’t tied to one company, they may be able to find you a company that provides you with better discounts or coverage.
However, your car insurance rate is dependent on a multitude of factors. If you have a poor driving record or haven’t been insured continuously, a broker may not be able to find you a lower rate.
If you’re curious, you can request car insurance quotes from a broker to see what your rate may be.”
