Do self-driving cars have steering wheels?

I think self-driving cars are the coolest thing ever, and I want to buy one eventually. A few aspects of self-driving cars still confuse me though. Do self-driving cars even have steering wheels?

You’re right, they are cool! For the most part, self-driving cars do have steering wheels. That’s because many of them aren’t yet fully autonomous—they require a human operator behind the wheel to be legal in most states.
However, some carmakers like Cruise Automation, a subsidiary of GM, have announced in recent years that they plan to release fully autonomous vehicles with no driving controls. Their vision is that the car would be a vessel to carry passengers around automatically, like a small bus.
Whether or not these types of vehicles will be legalized or not depends heavily on state lawmakers. Since self-driving cars are relatively new, legislators are still navigating how to regulate them and which—if any—regulations should be federalized.
Because of the wide range of safety features on self-driving cars, they may be cheaper to insure. Either way, you can always bet on
