Do rental car companies allow you to drive to Canada?

I want to drive to Montreal, but I don't have my own car. Can I rent a car to do so?

“Driving your rental car into Canada shouldn’t create an issue, but you’ll need to check with your rental car company first.
Although most rental car companies allow you to take a vehicle out of state, they may have stipulations about driving it out of the country. Make sure that it’s allowed before crossing the border.
When you arrive at the border in a rental car, the Canadian customs and border agent will ask you for the following documents:
  • U.S. passport
  • Driver’s license
  • Non-resident insurance card, which is free by request with the rental car company
If you can travel to Canada, make certain to get the right rental car insurance. Since you don’t own a vehicle, it’s essential you have proper coverage on the car while travelling.
If you rent vehicles frequently, you may also want to consider a non-owner car insurance policy. Use the Jerry app to compare prices from over 50 top-rated insurers.”
