Do owner-builders need home warranty insurance?

My husband and I are planning on getting our first home together, but we’ve just decided on becoming owner-builders—we have the expertise and tools, so we figured, why not! Does an owner-builder have to purchase home warranty insurance?

Becoming an owner-builder can be an incredible undertaking—but well worth it in the end. You’ll literally be able to build the house of your dreams!
To get a construction loan approved by your bank and start building your home, you’ll need to have proper insurance coverage. You will likely need to purchase specialized home insurance.
Ideally, you should have both construction insurance and general
liability insurance
coverage. In some situations, you may also be liable for laborers’ worker’s compensation insurance.
While being an owner-builder provides a lot of freedom when it comes to your home, it also comes with a fair bit of risk, as you become entirely liable for the project. If you want to save money and guarantee proper coverage from your insurance, then check out the
Jerry
app.
A licensed broker that offers end-to-end support, the Jerry app gathers affordable quotes, helps you switch plans, and will even help you cancel your old policy. Jerry can even help you bundle together home and auto insurance to guarantee the most savings.
Hope you found this helpful—congrats on beginning your journey to being owner-builders!
