Do insurance companies quote you at high premiums because they don't want you?

I was quoted for $320 a month through Allstate, but all the other quotes I gathered were almost twice as much. Is that the insurance company saying they don't want my business?

“In matters of
car insurance
, it’s best not to take things personally. The high quotes from the other companies mean you likely are a higher risk to insure, which has everything to do with their underwriting guidelines, not your personal character.
Car insurance companies look at many different factors when determining a rate, such as:
  • Age
  • Driving history
  • Location
  • Credit score
  • Marital status
If you don’t have a
clean driving record
or aren’t an experienced driver, your rates will also be higher.
While
Allstate
may be offering you the best quote now, companies constantly change their rates. It’s a good idea to shop around for the best rate every six months or whenever your policy is up for renewal.
