Do I need to get a Kansas smog check?
I took a job in Kansas and will be moving there in a couple of months, but I’m a little worried about my vehicle meeting any state emissions requirements. Do I need to get a smog check in Kansas?

Kansas has no requirement for emissions testing, but you can get a voluntary vehicle emissions test if you want one. Many service centers offer them, but they’re not required to keep your vehicle registered in Kansas.
In fact, Kansas doesn’t even require vehicle safety inspections. All that’s required in Kansas for newcomers is a *vehicle identification number (VIN)** inspection. This inspection is conducted by the state’s highway patrol, and must be completed before you can register your out-of-state car.
