Do I need to check the tire pressure monitoring system on my Kia?

My car keeps telling me my tire pressure is too low, but when I use other tire pressure gauges, it seems like the pressure on all my tires is fine. Do I need to check the tire pressure monitoring system on my Kia?

It sounds like checking the tire pressure monitoring system on your
Kia
is worth considering. After all, you want to address a low tire pressure problem as soon as possible, and that’s hard to do if you can’t trust your tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) indicator light when it comes on.
There are several reasons your tire pressure monitoring system is turning on when it doesn’t need to. Some of them would include the following:
  • If you properly inflated your tires after your TPMS light initially came on, you might have to
    reset your TPMS manually
  • Using nonstandard tires on your vehicle could lead to inaccurate readings
  • Faulty sensors could also lead to false readings—and this could especially be a possibility if your tire pressure readings are consistent when you use other tire pressure gauges
  • Electrical problems could also cause your TPMS light to stay on when it shouldn’t be
If after some troubleshooting you still can’t get your TPMS light to turn off, you might need to visit an auto shop to check the tire pressure monitoring system on your Kia and make sure there’s not a more serious problem somewhere in the system.
