Do I need my own insurance for Zipcar?
I just became a member of Zipcar. I'm wondering if I need to purchase a car insurance policy or can I just use theirs?

“Zipcar has its own car insurance policy that covers members. The coverage meets basic state minimum car insurance requirements. It also includes personal injury protection when necessary.
For physical damage or collision coverage, drivers are responsible for the first $1,000. After that, Zipcar covers the remaining amount. They also offer a damage protection plan that will help reduce or eliminate the $1,000 deductible.
If you’re worried about the policy not providing enough coverage, you can always purchase non-owner car insurance as a supplement. Non-owners’ policies extend coverage to any vehicle that the policyholder drives.
As non-owners insurance is nonstandard, you’ll need to call insurance companies to see who offers this type of policy. You can also call or text Jerry. Jerry’s licensed agents would be happy to help you find the best policy to suit your needs.”
