Do I need an attorney after a car accident?

I was in a bad car accident. I wasn't at fault and it seems like the other driver's insurance is willing to settle. Do I still need to get a lawyer?

“You aren’t required to consult a lawyer after an accident. If you feel that you are getting a fair settlement from the other driver’s
car insurance
company or that your own insurance company is negotiating a settlement in your best interest, you wouldn’t need a lawyer.
If the other driver doesn’t have enough insurance coverage or their insurance is unwilling to pay for medical expenses or
property damage
, you may need to speak with a lawyer. Personal injury attorneys specialize in these types of cases and may offer a pro-bono consultation.
If you’re concerned about the settlement, you can always speak to a lawyer. If you do decide to hire one, they will typically take a portion of your settlement amount as part of their fee and you will also have to pay for court fees.
Some insurance companies may also raise your rates after an no-fault accident, so you may want to shop around in the meantime. With the
Jerry
app, you can compare over 40 rates from top companies.”
