Do I have to get gap insurance through my current car insurance provider or lender?

Do I have to go through my current lender or insurance company, or can I purchase gap insurance elsewhere? I was thinking about getting gap insurance, but I wasn't sure if I should get it through my car dealer, car insurance, or lender.

“You’re welcome to purchase
gap insurance
anywhere you want.
Lenders and dealers tend to offer it as one lump sum payment that’s added to your car loan balance. Car insurance companies usually tack on a monthly payment to your premium.
However, you’re free to shop for gap insurance through other providers. There’s no guarantee that it will be cheaper, but it’s worth shopping around on sites like
Jerry
to see if you can find a better deal.”
