Do I have to carry my driver's license with me?

I hate carrying my purse with me wherever I go, so I usually just take some money and credit cards with me when I drive. Should I carry my driving license with me?

Even if carrying your driver’s license with you seems like a nuisance, you should always do so. In all states, driving without a driver’s license will result in a
citation
—even if you have one.
If you’re pulled over or involved in an accident, the police officer won’t be able to verify your identity. This can lead to a lengthy stop on top of the citation that the officer may issue.
The good news is that most driving without a license tickets are dismissed in court if you provide proof of a valid license during your court date. Nevertheless, you still have to spend time going to court to resolve the issue. Because of all the potential hassles involved, always carry your license with you if you plan to drive.
Don’t forget about carrying proof of car insurance in your vehicle, as well. If you haven’t shopped for car insurance recently, spend a few minutes shopping around by using the
