“In Virginia, you’re not legally required to buy car insurance. However, if you choose to drive uninsured, you have to pay a $500 uninsured motor vehicle fee to the DMV.
If you get into an at-fault car accident without insurance, you’ll be left footing the bill for all the damages and injuries. If you can’t afford to pay for the other driver’s expenses, you could have your wages garnished or be hit with a lawsuit. “

If my uninsured motorist property damage doesn't cover a hit-and-run, then what does offer coverage?
"I was going over my policy for renewal and saw that my uninsured motorist property damage doesn't cover hit-and-run accidents. I was with the same carrier two years ago and my car was damaged in a hit-and-run. My insurance paid for the damage and I'm not sure what part of my policy covered it. I do have full coverage on my vehicle."
