Do I have any insurance options for when I rent a car in another country?
Every time I travel out of the country, the cost to rent a car is insane! And it isn't the car itself that costs so much, but the insurance. Are there any affordable options for insurance out of the country?

car insurance
will not extend to any other country besides our friendly neighbors to the north, Canada. If you are traveling overseas, insurance can get pricey. Your best option is to see if your credit card company offers rental car perks that extend to other countries. But make sure to ask a lot of questions to ensure you are properly covered.
American Express does offer coverage for some countries, but they also exclude others. Chase Sapphire has coverage in all countries, but they have a limitation on the type of car you can rent. Some countries require you to buy local insurance no matter what coverage you have.
The easiest option, in this case, is the most expensive. Buy the
rental car insurance
from the location where you are renting the car. Unless you are well-versed in insurance and the local language, this could be the only safe way to make sure you have proper coverage. “View full answer
