You’re right! Electric cars do not have an engine. Therefore, they do not need a check engine light.
Instead, electric cars have their own equivalent to the check engine light found on a regular
gas-powered car
. When your car is experiencing electrical issues, your dashboard will illuminate an amber or red symbol that looks like a car with an exclamation in the center of the image. This is your indication that your vehicle is experiencing some kind of electrical issue.

This warning is pretty broad, but it means that something has gone awry within your car’s electrical system. The problem could exist anywhere from the interior wiring to the battery. But, it’s a good indication that you should get your car inspected and serviced right away.
