New male drivers pay a considerable amount more than new female drivers because male drivers are often involved in more accidents, and thus, riskier to insure. They may also have worse driving records in comparison to their female counterparts.
As drivers begin to age, the difference in rates between male and female tend to even out. After age 25, most men and women with similar driving records and histories are paying a similar rate. As people age, they gain more driving experience and are less likely to engage in risky behavior.
