Do car insurance companies cover damage caused by vandalism?

"Can I submit a claim to my insurance if someone kicked my car? Another driver got mad at me during rush hour. They got out of their car and started kicking my car. It has dents in it now."

“If you have
comprehensive insurance
, you should be covered. Most comprehensive coverage includes damage done by vandalism. By going through your own insurance, you would need to pay your deductible.
Depending on the cost of your deductible, it may be less expensive to pay for the repairs out of pocket.
If you only have
liability car insurance
, you likely won’t be able to file a claim with your insurance. Liability coverage only covers damage you do to other people or their vehicles.
You should file a police report for the accident. The police may be able to track down the driver that damaged your vehicle. If they do, the other driver’s insurance may pay for your damages.
You’ll also want to reach out to your car insurance company to confirm your coverage and what they can do.”
