Do all Tesla SUVs have butterfly doors?
I finally have an amazing job that pays well, and I want to treat myself to something really nice. I was thinking about buying a Tesla, but I feel like the novelty of the butterfly doors would probably wear off pretty quickly. Are there any Tesla SUVs that don’t have butterfly doors?

Tesla’s butterfly doors are polarizing—some people really like them, but others can’t stand them. If you’re not sure you’ll like the butterfly doors, though, you’re in luck—only Tesla’s Model X SUV comes with rear butterfly doors.
Tesla refers to these doors as “falcon-wing doors,” but you might also hear them referred to as “gull-wing doors.” These doors open upwards, similar to an old-school Delorean’s, but they’re double-hinged so they can open in tighter spaces.
There are two main problems with the falcon-wing doors. First, the double-hinged design can make the Tesla Model X more susceptible to water leaks. Second, a remote sensor controls the doors to keep them from hitting anything when they open—so if you’re parked in a tight spot, something’s blocking the door, or the sensor is damaged in an accident, the doors may not open at all.
If you’d rather bypass the problem altogether, the Tesla Model Y SUV has traditional car doors. It’s a bit of a smaller vehicle, but it’s also more affordable, so it might just be worth the trade-off.
