Did the Pontiac Torrent ever have a manual transmission?

I was looking at a used Pontiac Torrent with good mileage and in excellent condition. However, I was really hoping for a manual car. Was the Torrent ever produced with a manual transmission?

No—the
Pontiac Torrent
was never produced with a manual transmission. The mid-size crossover SUV was available from 2006 to 2009 and was a restyled version of the
Chevrolet Equinox
.
The Torrent has a sportier and firmer suspension compared to the Equinox, and the electronic power steering was altered for a firmer feel. However, the two vehicles did share the 2.4L V6 engine with a 5-speed Aisin AF33 automatic transmission.
As with the other
Pontiac
vehicles in their lineup, the Torrent came in three trim levels:
  • Base
  • GT
  • GXP
The highest trim, the
GXP
, featured a more powerful 3.6L DOHC SFI V6 engine with a six-speed automatic transmission and unique exterior styling.
Whether you’re behind the wheel of a base Torrent or the high-performance GXP, you’ll need a car insurance policy to keep you fully covered without breaking the bank. You’ll get the right policy at the lowest price when you shop with the
