Did raising the drinking age reduce drunk driving?

I’m writing a paper in my English class arguing that they should lower the drinking age because raising it didn’t have any effect on drunk driving rates. Is there a study or something I can use to support my argument?

Unfortunately, if you want to support your argument with evidence, you’re going to have to change your stance because raising the drinking age did reduce
drunk driving
.
Multiple studies conducted from 1987 through recent years repeatedly and conclusively find that raising the drinking age from 18 to 21:
  • Clearly reduced youth drinking and driving
  • Clearly reduced youth drinking as a whole
  • Seems to have affected youths’ overall ideas about drinking, making it a less-desirable behavior.
Raising the legal drinking age from 18 to 21 has helped save countless lives by lowering youth drinking and driving over the years. It also helped a lot of young people who might otherwise have been found guilty of driving under the influence save money on
car insurance
by keeping a clean driving record.
