Can you wear sunglasses during a driving test?

I scheduled my driving test, but the weather report shows that the sun is going to be out in full force. I have sensitive eyes, so I usually wear sunglasses when the sun is bright. Can you take a driver’s test with sunglasses?

While no law prohibits you from wearing sunglasses on a driving test, most driving instructors agree that you shouldn’t wear sunglasses. The reason that most examiners don’t want you to wear sunglasses is that they can’t see what you’re looking at while you’re taking the test.
One of the major determinants of whether you pass your driving test centers around your awareness behind the wheel. Whether you’re turning, backing up, or driving, you should be scanning the roadway, checking blind spots, and looking in your side mirrors and rearview mirror.
If the examiner can’t see what you’re looking at, they can’t make an accurate assumption as to your level of awareness. This can end up costing you points on your test, which may cause you to fail.
If you have sensitive eyes and the day of your driving test is very sunny, ask your examiner or call the DMV ahead of time to inquire about their policy.
Regardless of whether or not you wear sunglasses, make sure you have
proof of insurance
when you arrive to take the test. In most cases, your parents’ policy should cover you under permissive use. But without proof of insurance, the examiner will not let you take the test.
Once you get your license, remember that you’ll need an insurance policy of your own to legally get behind the wheel. That’s when the
