Can you use WD-40 as a tire shine?

I heard WD-40 is a really effective cleaner for tire shine. I have tons of it in my garage right now because it’s so useful for so many things. Will it also work to shine my tires?

You can use WD-40 as a tire shine, but it may do more long-term harm than short-term good. While it will leave a film behind that initially looks shiny and will prevent
rust build-up
, that film will also end up picking up road dirt and debris.
So WD-40 as a tire shine may look nice at first, but your tires are likely to get dirty again quite quickly and be harder to clean next time.
It may be worth it to shell out a bit more money for a cleaner specific for tire shining. You can use the money you can save by shopping for
