Can you turn right on red in Minnesota?

I’m moving to Minnesota. I can’t tell if I’m excited quite yet, as I hate the cold, but I’m at least stoked about the change of scenery. However, I don’t want to start my journey on the wrong foot by getting a ticket. Is it legal to turn right on red in Minnesota?

Minnesota isn’t cold all the time, so at least you have warm summers to look forward to! You can always turn right on red in Minnesota, as long as you don’t see any signs that specifically prohibit you from doing so.
However, you should follow some general safety tips to ensure you make the turn legally and without getting into an accident:
  • Always come to a complete stop at the white line before the intersection.
  • Creep forward while yielding to pedestrians and cyclists.
  • Before you execute the turn, double-check one more time to ensure no other car, bike, or person has entered the intersection or is traveling at a high rate of speed.
While you may need a few weeks to settle in, don’t forget to stay legal by purchasing
