You read correctly! While you have the freedom to cancel your
car insurance
policy any time for any reason, most companies will require you to write a letter to cancel your insurance policy. Here’s what to include:- Primary policyholder’s name (must be the one to write the letter)
- Policy number
- Vehicle Identification Number(s) (VIN) of any covered vehicles
- Date of cancellation
- Address for further correspondence
- Signature and date of request
