I’m really upset. A month or so ago, I parked my brand new car under a tree. The next morning, I came out to find it covered with bird poop. Instead of doing a deep cleaning, I just sprayed it off with water. Now, it’s etched into the paint. Can you tell me how to remove bird poop etching from my car?

Yeah, as you learned, just spraying off bird poop with water doesn’t always do the job. To remove bird poop etching from your car, you’ll need to take a few steps.
- Do clean off bird poop as soon as possible—if you do, you’ll prevent it from damaging your paint or clear coat.
- If the bird poop has been on your car for a while, loosen/soften it first by using a spray designed to remove bird feces.
- Once the bird poop has been removed, if you see etching marks in the paint, try using scratch remover paste. Be sure to apply it with a microfiber sponge or mitt.
- If the damage is severe, you may need the services of a professional detailer.
