Can you tell me how to open the gas tank on a Subaru Outback?

My new husband and I are on a honeymoon weekend in his friend’s Subaru Outback. We need to refill the tank, and we don’t want to bother his friend. How do I open the gas tank on a Subaru Outback?

You didn’t say what year the car was, but figuring out how to open the gas tank on a Subaru Outback is fairly standard across model years.
Look for the gas tank door release lever, which should be located on the left-hand side on the driver’s side of the floor. Pulling up on this lever will open the door to the gas tank.
When you’ve borrowed a friend’s car, you should have your friend check to make sure that the car has insurance.
