Can you insure a remodeled van?

How would I go about insuring a remodeled van? I converted an old van into a living space. The problem is it's hard to classify since it's not officially an RV, but it's not a regular van either. Which companies will even offer me insurance?

“Finding car insurance for a DIY campervan can be challenging.
Insurance companies want to know what modifications have been made and what safety features are put in place. Taking pictures of your vehicle and its assets may help insurers determine if they can cover you.
Also, consider what kind of insurance you need.
Basic auto insurance may not cover any of your build materials or storage items. To qualify for RV insurance, your campervan needs to have:
  • a toilet
  • running water
  • a place to cook and store food
  • a place to sleep
  • heating
You may need a combination of different types of insurance.
To find the right policy for you, it’s probably best to shop around. Using the free Jerry app can help you compare rates and types of insurance from the top companies in under a minute.”
