Can you help me find my 2020 Volvo S60’s battery location?
I’m trying to figure out where the 2020 Volvo S60’s battery location is. I just bought this car used, and I figured I’d find it in case I ever needed a jumpstart in the future or anything. But I don’t see anything resembling a battery under the hood and now I’m confused—where exactly is my 2020 Volvo S60’s battery location?

Congrats on your new-to-you S60! It’s a great idea to orient yourself with a new car and learn where all of the important components are under the hood. And yes, Volvo did a very good job of hiding the battery in their 2020 S60. But no worries, we can help with your 2020 Volvo S60’s battery location!
The car battery in your Volvo S60 is underneath the spare tire in the trunk, not in the engine bay. But it gets even weirder from here. You would jumpstart your S60 from the engine bay, not the trunk where the battery is located. Yup—weird!
Under the hood up front, you’ll find a little red box on the driver’s side of the engine bay. You’ll remove this red cover and connect the positive jumper cable there.
Next, you’ll need the negative terminal. When facing the engine bay, look left of the red positive terminal area, almost to the edge of the engine bay. You’ll see a little black post there, with a battery emblem beside it. That’s your negative terminal.
It’s a little confusing at first, but everything Volvo does with their car designs is fully intentional and safety-oriented. And now that you know where the battery is located and where the battery terminals are located under the hood, you’ll have no problem offering a jumpstart to a stranded friend in the future.
