Can you get flood insurance on a mobile home?
My husband and I live in our RV full time, and we’re getting ready to move to Florida. The weather is much different from our current home in Boston, so we’re not entirely sure what will be covered by our mobile home insurance. Will we be able to get flood insurance for our mobile home?

It’s great that you’re thinking about protecting your RV ahead of your move. There are different kinds of insurance policies for mobile homes depending on what you’re using your
RV
for, but flood damage is not covered under mobile home insurance. Since floods aren’t covered by your mobile home policy, here is what you need to know about covering your RV against flood damage:
- If your mobile home is located in a high-risk flooding zone and you have a federally-backed mortgage, you will most likely be required to buy a separate flood insurance policy.
- The National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) and the private flood insurance marketplace are the best resources to find a flood insurance policy that best suits your needs.
- On average, flood insurance costs around $738 annually. However, the NFIP’s preferred risk coverage program can lower premiums to around $100 per year if you are in a low-to-moderate risk location.
