Can you get boat insurance without a valid driver's license in Pennsylvania?

My dad is giving me his old boat. I don't have a driver's license, so would I still be able to insure it?

“You should still be able to insure your boat in Pennsylvania without a driver’s license. Boat insurance is optional, so it’s likely the only requirement is that you meet Pennsylvania’s Fish and Boating Commission’s guidelines.
To operate a boat legally in Pennsylvania, you are only required to take a course and receive a Boating Safety Education Certificate. It never expires, so you’ll only need to take and pass the course once. However, this is only if your father’s old boat is 25 horsepower or more. If it’s a small fishing boat, you may not even have to take the test.
As long as your dad transfers the title of the boat to you, you should have no issues registering it with the state as well.
If you’re interested in boat insurance, you might want to talk to your father to see who insures his vehicle. Then, check his policy against rates you find on Jerry. Jerry is a full-service car insurance broker that may find your dad a better rate on his car. Then, you can see if he can add boat insurance to his policy just to be on the safe side.”
