Can you flat tow any manual transmission vehicle?

I recently bought an RV and want to tow my vehicle behind it when I go on camping trips. My friend told me that you can tow any vehicle so long as it has a manual transmission, but I’m not sure if that’s true. Is it possible to tow any manual transmission vehicle?

In general, you can flat tow a manual transmission car if it has
rear-wheel drive
. You can also typically flat tow a manual transmission car with four-wheel drive, but it needs to have a two-speed transfer case.
If you’re not sure whether your manual transmission vehicle has a two-speed transfer case, simply look for a 4-LO setting on your four-wheel-drive selector. Note that your car needs to be in neutral before you flat tow, regardless of what type of drivetrain you have.
Some front-wheel-drive manual transmission vehicles may also be flat-towing compatible but this isn’t set in stone. Always make sure to read the owner’s manual to find out if your car can be flat towed without damage.
