I’m in the market for a new car—but I want something I can flat tow, since I travel with my RV about three times a year, and I’m not a fan of using a dolly or trailer. Is AWD safe to flat tow?

Generally, you cannot flat tow an all-wheel drive vehicle. Flat towing requires having a car with a transmission that will stay properly lubricated while the wheels are in motion and the engine is off.
For the most part, you’ll need a car with four-wheel drive and manual transmission in order to safely flat tow—but you should always look at your car’s owners manual to ensure whether or not it is safe to flat tow.
