Can you flat tow a Nissan Leaf?

I’m moving back home for a while, and I don't have anyone to drive my Nissan Leaf for me. Can I flat tow it behind my moving truck?

It’s nice to be able to tow a smaller vehicle behind a moving truck, but if you want to do it with a Nissan Leaf, you’ll need to get a trailer. You cannot flat tow a Nissan Leaf.
Like all electric vehicles, the Leaf’s motor is mechanically connected to its wheels at all times. This means attempting to tow it with all four wheels on the ground can cause major damage. Leafs can only be towed one of three ways:
  • on a flatbed truck
  • front wheels elevated and back wheels on the road
  • back wheels elevated with front wheels secured on a tow dolly
Luckily, most moving truck rental companies offer a variety of trailers for rent, so you should be able to find what you need to get you and your Leaf home safely. But before you go, make sure you’re ready for the move by getting a quick check-up on your
