Can you flat tow a MINI Cooper with a manual transmission?

I’m interested in purchasing a new MINI Cooper, but I also want to make sure that I can tow it behind my motorhome when I’m on vacation. Is it possible to flat tow a MINI Cooper if it has a manual transmission?

According to the owner’s manual, you should not flat tow a MINI Cooper with a manual transmission. However,
MINI
doesn’t go as far as saying that it will damage the vehicle, but it will void the warranty.
If you buy a used MINI Cooper with a stick, you can probably flat tow it as long as the gearshift is in neutral. Again, note that you will void the warranty, but damage to the vehicle is unlikely.
